December 2026 International Exchange Salon Enjoy Japanese Tradition Through Paper Cutting! Family Crests and Art of “Monkiri” Paper-Cutting
At the December International Exchange Salon, we will explore the history of Japanese family crests (kamon) in a fun and engaging way through stories & visual materials. We will also experience “Monkiri”, a traditional Japanese paper-cutting craft that is passed down from the Edo period (1603-1868).
Fold the paper, cut it with scissors, and unfold it to reveal a beautiful pattern! Then, use your finished Monkiri designs to decorate your own luncheon mat and chopstick holder.
Come enjoy the fun of creating while discovering Japanese culture and connecting with others!
Date: December 12 (Sat.) 2:00pm-4:00pm
